Our 'podere'
is located in the heart of the Etruscan Coast
accented by a calm sea where the colors blend from emerald
green to intense blue; a sea rewarded for the quality of
water by the Blue Flag of the European Union. |

accented by a
calm sea where the colors blend from emerald green to
intense blue; a sea rewarded for the quality of water by the
Blue Flag of the European Union.
On the coast from Livorno to Piombino you will find amazing
sites: Castiglioncello, Rosignano, Vada, Cecina and Marina
di Castagneto. Beaches of clear sand like that of Vada
alternate with darker beaches like that of Marina di
Castagneto, Bibbona and Cecina, to the perfect equilibrium
of rock and sand like the beach at Quercetano Bay of
Castiglioncello. A large part of the Etruscan Coast consists
of parks and natural oases. Nature is the fabric and essence
of this land rich in pine groves, woods and countryside
immersed in colours and perfumes, accented by the WWF oasis
of Bolgheri and the Park of the Livornese Hills. Etruscan
settlements are scattered along the coast.

|
At the
archaeological Park of Baratti-Populonia one finds museums
rich with Etruscan, Roman and Villanoviani relics, as well
as at Rosignano Marittimo and Cecina. |

Our
archaeologic area is testimony to the importance of the
history of the Etruscan Coast. A land of art, where
musicians like Mascagni and painters like Modigliani were
born, and where, the Macchiaioli School was founded by
Fattori. |
 |
History is
rediscovered in Medieval villages like Bolgheri, Castagneto
Carducci, Suvereto and Campiglia Marittima; historical
jewels strewn throughout the heart of the hills and woods
located a short distance from the sea.

The
gastronomic tradition of the Etruscan Coast is famous
worldwide for the richness and variety of its' cuisine. Fish
is the base of thousands of tasty recipes, from the
characteristic 'cacciucco' to 'livornese', and black
cuddlefish ink with rice (riso al nero di seppia). Sink your
teeth in sea bream, squid, crustaceans and the rediscovered
blue-fish cooked with knowledge and imagination. |
|
|
|
The
most famous of the cuisine on land is 'chinina', a
precious breed of cow, as well as 'cacciagione'
using wild boar or hare. Vegetables accompany all
plates, but don't miss our traditional cheeses,
honey, bread, sweets, chick pea tort and the 'ponce
alla livornese'. |
